    Attorney-General and Minister for Emergency Management Mark Dreyfus QC and NSW Minister for Emergency Services Michael Gallacher today announced disaster assistance for the NSW local government areas of Shoalhaven City, Goulburn-Mulwaree and Palerang after they were affected by severe storms, flooding and landslides in late June 2013.
  • 10 July 2013—$12 million boost to Queensland disaster resilience
    The Parliamentary Secretary to the Attorney-General Shayne Neumann and Queensland Minister for Police and Community Safety, Jack Dempsey announced that communities across Queensland will benefit from more than $12 million of local projects to improve preparedness for natural disasters.

    Attorney-General and Minister for Emergency Management Mark Dreyfus QC and Victorian Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional and Rural Development Peter Ryan today announced additional assistance for farmers hit by severe weather events in Victoria in December 2011, February–March 2012 and June 2012.

    Attorney-General and Minister for Emergency Management Mark Dreyfus QC and Victorian Minister for Police and Emergency Services Kim Wells today announced disaster assistance to help Victorian communities affected by the June 2013 flood event.
  • 28 June 2013—Disaster assistance for New South Wales communities
    Attorney-General and Minister for Emergency Management Mark Dreyfus QC and NSW Minister for Emergency Services Michael Gallacher today announced disaster assistance for the NSW local government area of Nambucca after it was affected by severe storms, flooding and landslides in late May 2013.

    The Disaster Income Recovery Subsidy (DIRS) has been made available by the Australian Government to Tasmanians who were severely affected by the Tasmanian bushfires in January 2013.

    An updated online game that teaches children how and when to use Triple Zero was launched today with new scenarios and greater accessibility for children with disabilities and special needs.
